Ephesians 4:11-12 (NKJV) 11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
Matthew 23:15 (NKJV) 15 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.
“Hypocrites” is used of someone acting in a play. [“Actors” in Greek]. Actors wore exaggerated, painted masks intended to represent the characters they played. The Gospels portray religious hypocrites as persons who act with calculation intended to impress observers, focus on external trappings of religion and ignore the central, heart issues of love for God and others, and who use spiritual talk to hide base and corrupt meanings. This chapter is a blunt warning to hypocrites of every era.
Dear friends, thanks once again for standing together with us and praying for us. Last week a team of four [including a pastor who shepherds his community] visited us from Indonesia to spend time with us. Thanks to Pastor Abraham Gan for providing them housing during their stay in Penang. During their time here they interviewed me before their camera. One of the questions put before me is “Is the modern church relevant to the World?”
My answer was “NO” and “YES”. Whether it is the institutional church or church that meets in the house, Charismatic, Pentecostal, and Conservative they are not relevant to the world. “YES” to the Church of Jesus Christ a remnant who is making an impact upon the world. They are like Jesus and His Disciples out there in the marketplace functioning as they should [with room for improvement and growth].
Many of our local churches everywhere [North, south, east and west] are taught and trained to function within the four walls of a building that they call “church”. What God and I are looking for is “the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world” functioning out there in the real world. I desire to see Christian lawyers, judges, businessmen, policemen, soldiers, politicians and road sweepers [to name a few] living, working, and succeeding [ living in line with The Word of God] out there in the marketplace. We desire to see families in the world transformed.
If the love of God, discipline, faith, selflessness, prayer [to name a few] is not seen in Christian families [Pastors and their members] than they cannot bring transformation to the families in the world. They cannot be relevant to the community around them.
Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV) 18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
I am longing for the day to see every member of the local church walking with authority and power [the local church pastor has taught, trained, activated and released them into the marketplace], and making disciples and baptizing them in the marketplace. I am longing for the day to see prayer as a lifestyle. Prayers are offered in the homes and the marketplace daily [not just one day in the church building].
My friends if my writing provokes you please forgive me because that is not my main intention but desire to see repentance and change taking place first of all in Pastors and then church members.
